Lenovo confirms plans for Internet TV and cloud services

Lenovo has leaked a word of what we could expect the company to show off in the coming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012. Lenovo is now the world’s second largest computer manufacturer, outdoing Asus and Dell in the competition. But this is only in the traditional PC department. Now, the company is all set to venture into new markets, bringing in competitive products such as smartphones and tablets. To add to this line of devices, Lenovo is all set to introduce its version of internet-based TV and cloud services. But will it be able to survive?

Google is building its own Android tablet

If you are already confused which tablet to buy, here is another one coming in the next six months. Google is all ready to take on the tablet industry all by itself. We are not talking about another version of Android or something, but a whole new Android tablet, Google-branded Android tablet. The search giant’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said this in a statement to an Italian newspaper.

Kindle Fire hacked to run a pre-alpha version of Ice Cream Sandwich

If you own a Kindle Fire and actually bought it hoping that one day you will able to run a custom ROM of a decent version of Android, you are at luck now. XDA developers have come up with one custom ROM based on a “pre-alpha” version of Ice Cream Sandwich, or Android 4.0, which is the latest version of the Android operating system available.

Sony tablets to get Ice Cream Sandwich pretty soon

Sony was a bit late to enter the tablet market, and the company’s tablets don’t offer really a different or a better deal compared to its competitors. Also, the tablets are priced higher than its competitor, just like the VAIO laptops. So obviously, very less people buy the Sony tablets. But if these few people are tech savvy, they would not be willing to buy a Sony Tablet S or Tablet P if these tablets are not getting the Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich, update.

New Amazon Kindle Fire root tool works with update version 6.2.1

Amazon recently released a new OS update for the company’s tablet, the Amazon Kindle Fire. The update version 6.2.1 was specifically released to block the vulnerability that a root tool recently used to give users of the Kindle Fire root access. But the blockage has already been bypassed by a new root tool.

Motorola Xoom gets unofficial Ice Cream Sandwich

The Motorola Xoom was the first ever tablet to get the Android 3.0, or Honeycomb. And now its looks like it is going to be the first tablet to get Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, as well, official or unofficial. The developer, or hackers as many call them, over at XDA have been able to port the ICS ROM to a Motorola Xoom.

Toshiba releases WT301/D Windows 7 tablet in Japan

With all the Android tablet floods in all over the world, you would have forgotten that there are Windows tablets as well. And Toshiba is here to remind you of the same. The Japanese company has released a Windows 7 tablet in Japan, pictured above. The WT301/D Windows 7 tablet has a 10.1 inch touch screen as the display, a 64 GB SSD hard disk, an Atom processor, and Windows 7 Professional as the operating system.

Sony releases PlayStation Vita in Japan

After a lot of delay, Sony has finally released the much awaited PlayStation Vita to gamers in Japan. It’s like the release of an Apple product with fans queuing up in front of stores hours ahead of the release. You would think Sony’s delay in launching the device so late and well into the holiday season would affect the sales of the console, but you could easily be wrong given the demand for the next gen console.
