Make the Apple logo on your iPhone glow
If you have seen a MacBook, there is no way you would not have observed the glowing Logo on the lid of the laptop. It looks awesome, I know. And there is a very similar Apple logo on the back of your iPhone as well, but it doesn’t glow. Now, however, there is a way to make it glow, it is hack, and it needs some work from you. It is not like jailbreaking your iPhone by clicking on some buttons, but you have to literally get your hands dirty by opening up your iPhone’s back cover.
K.O Gadget, a Chinese manufacturer, has released a set of tools with the hack which you can use to make the Apple logo on the back of your iPhone glow. This requires you to put some extra stuff into your iPhone and change the back cover, so it easily voids your iPhone’s warranty. If you are still game for that, continue reading.
By paying $42, you will get a kit with the tools required for the hack. You will also get a new back cover for your iPhone which has a transparent Apple logo on it. The back cover is made of the same glass material as that on the original iPhone cover, so the quality is almost the same. But still, you will have the feeling that it is not the original iPhone part.
Anyway, you will get a small “light strip” to put under the back cover. This light strip glows when your iPhone’s display is ON. For this, you will have to plug the light strip’s power supply to the power supply of the display unit. This additional part, however, will not add any extra thickness to your slim iPhone. But if you want make your iPhone look extra awesome, you will go to any extent to customize it for sure.
The company says you will be able to complete the whole process in under five minutes, and the same is reflected in the video as well. Now, follow the instructions below:
- Remove the 2 screws flanking the iPhone’s dock connector port
- Slide open and remove the rear panel
- Remove the 5 screws near the flash
- Lift up the power connector of the screen
- Position the light panel, then connect and mount it using the 3M sticker (details will be provided after purchase)
- Replace the 5 screws near the flash
- Slide on the included rear panel with the transparent logo (so that the light is visible through it)
- Replace the 2 remaining screws flanking the dock connector port
You can also watch the video below which demonstrates the process, but because of the great mind that placed the camera at such an angle, you are not able to see anything which is really important.
