The latest collaboration between LG and Prada has shipped in the UK. The handset, which is called in full ‘The Prada Phone by LG 3.0‘, has undeniably good looks and a reasonably powerful set of internals. It isn’t even that expensive for a fashion phone, coming in at just over £400 unlocked.

Inside, you’ll find a mid-range 1 GHz dual core processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. The phone’s display is 4.3″ and runs at 480 x 800, making it similar in size and power to the Galaxy S2 which dominated the Android market last year. (By comparison, that phone is still sold for about £350). There’s also an eight megapixel camera capable of 1080p video, a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video calls and a 1450 mAh battery. Like the Galaxy S2, that may turn out to be its weakest feature, with a reported talk time of only five hours.

The phone’s unique looks are mostly down to its clever monochrome theme for Gingerbread. These are complemented by the phone’s Saffiano pattern on the back. It’s certainly a matter of taste, but for the fashion-conscious it looks ideal. I’d definitely like to see that custom Gingerbread skin ported to Ice Cream Sandwich (and other phones as well). The phone is quite slim as well, at .5 mm thick and 138 g in weight.

While the LG and Prada partnership hasn’t always produced excellent results, this phone looks like it could be a winner. With most of the power of the popular Galaxy S2 and an infusion of high fashion, the sim-free LG Prada 3.0 certainly has the potential.
