Samsung have announced the latest member of the Galaxy family – the upgrade Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, which will take the place of the existing Samsung Galaxy Ace.

The new phone incorporates a few improvements over its predecessor – most notably, the processor has been cranked from 800 MHz to 1 GHz, while the screen has grown in size from 3.5 to 3.65 inches (although the resolution hasn’t changed, contrary to Engadget’s headline).

Inside, you’ll also find a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and a glossy plastic back that looks quite fetching. The standard assortment of connectivity is also present, with micro USB, Wireless N, Bluetooth 3 and dual band HSPA.

The new handset isn’t going to set the world on fire, but it’s still a modest upgrade to what was a fairly well received phone. The only thing that we don’t know yet about the Samsung Galaxy Ace is its price point and release date – expect to hear more about this one at CES next week, or the Mobile World Congress next month.
