700,000 Android Device Activation per dayThis is a news that makes all Android fans jump from their seats. I know Google is already celebrating, at least the Android wing. 700,000 activation per day is not an easy milestone to reach. Last time when the company announced, the number was 550,000 Android device activation per day. You can see the increase now very easily.

Now, let’s do the obvious, compare with its prime rival, Apple’s iPhone and iPad. In the fourth quarter of 2011, Apple has activated 17 million iPhones and 11 million iPads. Now, 700,000 Android device activation per day leads to around 21 million activations per month. So for the whole quarter, it will be over 60 million activations. Now, the 17 million plus 11 million of Apple’s devices looks pretty less, right?

But don’t forget, Android activations hold hundreds of different devices, but Apple has only one phone and one tablet, that is something worth mentioning. And I don’t think if you consider individual phones and tablets that make up the Android ecosystem, not many of them can beat the sales records that the iPhone alone or iPad alone make.

But, it is also worth mentioning that in the first quarter of 2012, we may see Google announcing that it is activating over a million Android devices a day. The company needs only 300,000 new customers per day to reach that, and that looks pretty possible for the next year. Don’t you think?
