Nokia has already signed a deal with Microsoft to use their mobile operating system, the Window Phone 7 series, on their smartphones so that both the companies benefit. But it looks like Nokia is not ready to let go of its own Symbian platform, which is already almost dead. According to a new leaked camera shot of Nokia’s road map for the next year, Nokia is releasing two new Symbian versions in the coming year, Symbian Carla and Symbian Donna.
If this turns out to be the real deal, people who still own Nokia’s high end smartphones can still have some hope to get an update, although this is not going to happen anytime soon. According to the rumors, Symbian Carla is going to feature version 8.0 of the Browser, Dolby Surround Sound, NFC, and “Best Widgets”. Symbian Donna, on the other hand, is said to be on “exclusive dual-core equipment”. That’s good to know.
So, we can probably expect some dual-care Symbian smartphones coming our way, but when? It is being said that Symbian Carla is going to be released by late 2012, or early 2013, and Symbian Donna is said to come at the same time, but it is going to be the last of the Symbian updates. I quite dont understand that part.
Anyway, is anybody excited to know this? Are you planning to buy a Nokia smartphone running Symbian anytime soon?
