Today, we’ll be looking at how the Samsung Galaxy S3 compares to other smartphones in its class. The three phones we’ll be comparing it to are the HTC One X, the Nokia Lumia 900 and the iPhone 4S.

The HTC One X is the S3′s biggest competitor for the title of ‘best Android phone’, with similar specifications and a very favourable reviews. The Nokia Lumia 900 is the best reviewed and highest spec Windows Phone released by Nokia to date, and is selling very well in North America. The iPhone 4S is one of the most popular phones worldwide despite its high cost.

Let’s see the differences between these four phones by the numbers.

Of course, not everything can be encapsulated within a specification sheet - the operating system makes a big difference - this is why the iPhone 4S is much more popular than the Lumia 900 and the One X, despite having fairly middling specs. The S3 does look pretty strong on this front with its human-centric, nature-inspired layer on top of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Accessories also play a role - there are some completely unique Samsung Galaxy SIII accessories available, but the iPhone 4S also has a vast aftermarket ecosystem. Still, the wireless Samsung Galaxy S3 charger is a unique addition that should differentiate the S3 from its peers.

All in all, the Galaxy S3 is definitely looking good - I’ll be looking forward to providing a full review when it’s released near the end of the month.
